Script 09: No Tricks, Just Treats

Who is going to win as Satan and his crew find ways to destroy children’s lives on Halloween while Christian children let their light shine?

Synopsis

Satan, Anthony, Tanya, Alicia, and Nelson are in a circle as satan fusses at them for the lack of souls they have been bringing him. One mentions Halloween as an idea to destroy children.

Laura, Oliver, Sally, and Terrell go inside their elementary school where Miss Finch teaches them. Doug and Elvin are in the hallway of their junior high school where Paul (a Christian) joins them. They always tease him. Henry, Ike, and Vernon eat in their high school lunchroom. Quarterback, Running back, and the football team come over to them with Head Cheerleader and cheerleaders and chase them away.

There are Halloween decorations outside of a store where the children and their parents shop for costumes. Laura is scared of the decorations but still annoys the other children. Doug sneaks up on Elvin and scares him with a large spider who runs away and almost gets hit by a car. Coach runs plays for the football team while cheerleaders practice. Henry, Ike, and Vernon eat at the malt shop. Alicia invites them to a party she’s having.

Paul and Dad are at church where Pastor preaches about Halloween. Paul asks Dad about a lot of things he heard in church. Anthony (J. H. S. teacher) tells Paul and the class they need to wear costumes which Paul fights to the dismay of the class including Lucy and Iris. Sarah (a Christian) talks to Mom about her issues with Halloween.

It is Halloween. Laura brags to the annoyance of her friends about her costume and winning another trophy. Lucy and Iris brag about their costumes which make Doug and Elvin drool. Henry, Ike, and Vernon get ridiculed by the football team until Alicia fondles them in front of Quarterback and the team.

Satan reminds the crew of the importance of tonight. Alicia has pizza and beer in the living room with sex toys in her bedroom. Tanya has a kitchen full of baked goods with more in the oven. Nelson puts the finishing touches on a haunted house.

Anthony teaches his classroom with no one in costume as a setup for Paul and Sarah, but it backfires for Anthony and the class as God shines brightly through Paul and Sarah. Satan frowns. Tv Anchor warns about Halloween and reports from last year.

Elementary school children and their parents go trick or treating at Tanya’s house. They eat, drink, and dance at Alicia’s house. People go inside the haunted house with screams everywhere. Satan has a meeting with Anthony. Running Back and Cheerleader leave the party and go to the malt shop and talk. Alicia gives Quarterback some cocaine.

Children come to Paul’s house where he gives them tracts instead of candy and explains what the tracts mean. The children walk down the street scared. Halloween decorations slowly walk around the city and chase them down the street. Doug and Elvin walk to the haunted house. Lucy joins them. Decorations chase them into the haunted house.

Sarah and Mom go to Hallelujah Night with other children and adults. Sarah walks over to Iris who is there with Grandmom. Doug, Elvin, and Lucy run around the haunted house screaming until…. Laura and Mother hide under the kitchen table until they think it is safe to come out. Laura calls Oliver to warn him about the baked goods but it is too late. Laura calls 911 but they don’t believe her. Father takes Oliver to the hospital while avoiding alive decorations. They get to the hospital which is full of parents and children. Most of them are dead or about to be including Oliver who is pronounced dead. Father calls 911 which is now ringing off the hook.

 Henry and Ike are high and on the floor. Vernon comes from upstairs with Alicia. He sees Henry and Ike and tries to help them up. He fights with Alicia and then drags Henry and Ike outside. Henry and Ike are ripped to shreds by spiders and black cat decorations. S. W. A. T. goes all over the city fighting, shooting, and blowing up Halloween decorations. Satan meets with the crew. The women toot their own horns along with Nelson, but Satan is not impressed. Anthony is fired literally as they both are in hell.

The day after Halloween, Paul looks at the news and tells Dad about how rough Halloween night really was. Sally, Laura, and Terrell are in class which is about half full. Terrell eats a cookie from his bookbag and falls down. A new teacher is in J. H. S. with Paul, Sarah, Iris, and a few others. Teacher doesn’t appreciate Paul and Sarah’s reasoning, but they have Iris’ attention. Vernon is at the malt shop with Running Back and Cheerleader at another table with hardly anyone else there.

Tanya cleans up her kitchen and puts the baked goods in the freezer. Alicia cleans up the pizza boxes and beer cans while dragging teenagers into the basement. Medical Examiner and Police look at dead teenagers and decorations full of holes in her yard. At the haunted house, Nelson looks around. He sees his nephew’s friend (Doug) on the floor. He finds his nephew (Elvin) dead and calls 911. Medical Examiner and Police collect bodies all over the city.

Police question Alicia about the dead teenagers on her lawn. They search her house and find nothing. An ambulance takes Doug away. Police find a trap door to the basement and find dead bodies and arrest Alicia. Police question Laura about her 911 call and the baked goods. Tanya cleans up her kitchen from traces of poison. Police come to Tanya’s house, search, and find nothing. Laura identifies her. Police call hazmat and forensics.

Alicia handles herself in prison as some push her. Nelson turns himself in at a police precinct. Hazmat finds nothing at Tanya’s house, but police get her to confess in anger and handcuff her. She kisses Detective who passes out. She is the poison and dies. Police carry Detective into a police car giving him C. P. R. and drive off.

Paul and Dad visit Doug in the hospital who has two broken legs, and a broken shoulder in a sling. T. V. Anchor is on tv announcing the events of the past day and the names and pictures of the people that did it. Laura comes to Paul’s house where Paul and Dad talk to her about Jesus. They pray with Laura to accept Jesus as her Savior. Iris is in church with Grandmom. Sarah sings on the choir. Paul sits with Dad. Laura comes in with Mother. Dad, Paul, Iris, Grandmom, Sarah, and Mom visit Doug in the hospital. They all hold hands and pray with Doug to accept Jesus as his Savior.

Running Back and Cheerleader sit in the malt shop. Vernon sits by himself. She feels sorry for Vernon, but he does not. He only thinks about himself and ends up hitting her. Vernon comes to her defense. Running Back leaves them alone and they act friendly to each other but not too friendly because he has A. I. D. S.

Laura turns in her trophy as her tribute to her friends that died and apologizes for her behavior, but no one is buying her new self. Dad visits Nelson in prison and shares with him about Jesus, but Nelson is not sold on Jesus yet. Sarah has Bible study with Paul while helping him catch up on his schoolwork while still in the hospital. Paul and Iris study the Bible and do their schoolwork together.

The police precinct is business as usual. Mother and Laura come in and Desk Sergeant brings them up to speed on what is going on. Laura announces her farewell to trick or treating and argues with Desk Sergeant which Mother discourages.

Sarah helps Doug. Paul and Dad come in. Dad tells Doug about Nelson which sets him off. Dad tells about his own sinful past which does more harm than good for Doug. Sally writes in a book. Pop is drunk as usual and hits her. She cries. Satan talks to her. Doug is by himself in the hospital. Satan talks to him. Vernon is by himself. Satan talks to him.

Laura talks to a student in school. Sally walks by with a black eye. Laura tries to help but Sally doesn’t want it and resents Laura telling the teacher. Doug is at home with Sarah. Paul and Iris come over, but things are different between them all. Doug and Iris get mad at Paul and Sarah.

What is left of the football team and cheerleaders have practice. Running Back sees Vernon and kisses her. Vernon sees this and leaves. She sees Vernon and slaps Running Back then runs to Vernon who leaves anyway.

Paul and Sarah sit on Paul’s porch now that they are both free of their relationships. Dad drives up and parks. They tell Dad what happened. They pray for Doug and Iris.

Satan offers to help Vernon, Doug, Iris, and Sally. Satan goes into Nelson’s cell and sends him to hell. Vernon tells Cheerleader that Running Back has A. I. D. S. Satan goes into Alicia’s cell and calls her to continue working for him.
