Synopsis
Timothy is a Christian man and new father whose life changes in an instant as he gets hit by a car driven by Diamond, a real estate agent who is not paying attention to the traffic or the man crossing the street. Diamond is driving, celling, and looking in her briefcase and doesn’t notice that traffic has stopped in front of her. She swerves in the right lane, sees Timothy then swerves into the left lane. But, too late. Timothy goes flying. Diamond keeps going. Anita, her assistant, screams for Diamond to go back. But, Diamond has a house to sell.
Shortly afterwards, Diamond arrives at her clients’ house. Anita is still in shock. Diamond grabs the doorknob as Warren (her employer) comes out. “They cancelled, so go home,” he says nervously as he hurries out.” While Timothy is lying in the street with his foot pointing sideways praying to God, the police discover two dead bodies in the House for Sale.
Throughout the story we witness Timothy going through difficult surgeries, skin grafts and blood transfusions while Lisa, his wife, is at another hospital tending to their newborn son in the NICU. Family, friends and church members visit to support and pray for this young couple as they struggle with their faith and bills. After much prayer, soul searching and rehab, Timothy begins to gain his strength and his faith.
In contrast, Diamond’s story unfolds as she becomes the primary suspect in the double homicide of the Wilsons, the clients she intended to sell to as well as the hit and run. Anita, begs her to confess to the hit and run. But, Diamond is convinced she can beat the wrap.
Meanwhile, the police and the ADA, having Diamond’s fingerprints on the door knob, start to unravel both cases, the double homicide and the hit and run. Convinced, that both cases are related, they bring Diamond in several times for questioning. If Diamond is the killer, where’s the murder weapon? They find a crowbar and go to her house, arrest her and interrogate both Anita and Diamond. Not having enough evidence, (the crowbar was clean) the officials release them. However, from the interrogation Diamond begins to suspect Warren, her boss, of murdering the Wilsons.
Timothy’s and Diamond’s life collide yet again when Timothy and Lisa decide to sell their house to pay medical bills. Diamond realizes that Timothy was the guy she hit and Timothy realizes the same. But before they could discuss further Diamond leaves the meeting abruptly. Diamond ends up at Anita’s apartment with a sudden touch of conscience. “Then tell him you hit him and turn yourself in”, Anita pleads.
Eventually, Warren gets arrested for the double murder. Anita is arrested after Diamond confesses to Timothy and turns herself in to the authorities. But, before she goes to the precinct, Timothy and Diamond go to church. Diamond comes to the altar to get saved. The church praises God for her. While praising God, Timothy starts to walk without his crutches. The church praises God for him. He comes to the front to hug Pastor and sees Diamond. She admits to being the one that hit him to the whole church. “Diamond was looking down when she hit me but I have been looking down my whole life. It’s time for me to start looking up to the hills from where comes my help.” Timothy forgives her.
Later, impressed at how well she has grown, the prison Chaplain ask Diamond to teach the prison Bible study class. She accepts and many prisoners are helped except one. Despite Diamond’s encouragement to give God a try, Anita refuses and eventually is shanked and killed in prison by two prisoners. Lisa, Timothy’s wife, starts painting and selling artwork successfully. Timothy is improving daily and both decide against selling the house.
The story concludes with another encounter between Timothy and Diamond. In the visitor’s room at the prison, Timothy is sitting at a table with his boot on and his crutches under the table. Diamond comes in and then hesitates when she sees him. She sits at the table. He thanks her for hitting him because she came to know God for herself and he came to know God in a new light. She tells him that didn’t work for Anita who was killed. They shake hands as they stand up. She sees his crutches and boot and then apologizes. He tells her he is Godly proud of her. They hug.
